These Foods Could Be Causing Yellow Teeth

Not everyone is blessed with a set of gleaming, pearly whites. Ask your dentist and they will tell you that your genetics and enamel type can dictate just how white or yellow your teeth are.

However, what can also contribute to yellow teeth is the food that enhance energy and you eat. Are some foods worse than others? As it turns out, yes. The following food types may contribute to teeth staining.

Berries

Berries are a natural source of antioxidants. They are also delicious, nutritious, and versatile. But they are also the cause of yellowing teeth. The same antioxidants that have health benefits can also cause staining on your teeth.

Curry

Curry is a delicious and versatile meal option. However, given the intense flavours and colours from the use of spices, it can lead to teeth yellowing. Consider rinsing your mouth and brushing your teeth after eating curry for lunch or dinner.

Beetroot

Drinks like tea, coffee, coloured slushies, cola, and red wine can cause teeth yellowing. You may be able to limit their impact by drinking through a straw or cutting back your weekly consumption.

Sauces

Even sauces can lead to teeth yellowing, even if they are not the central part of your meal or snack. Curry sauce, tomato sauce, soy sauce, and other vibrant or deeply coloured sauces may lead to teeth staining.

What Can You Do About Yellow Teeth?

If you are unhappy with the shade of your teeth, then make an appointment with your general dental practice. They may be able to get to the bottom of the cause, then offer whitening methods such as in-chair teeth whitening and take-home whitening trays.

Your dentist may also have advice on how to limit stains from taking hold in the first place. This can include chewing sugarless gum after drinking and eating, sipping water while eating food that can stain your teeth, and waiting half an hour before brushing your teeth after eating a teeth-staining meal.

You can also consider eating food that can benefit your teeth colouring, such as apples, celery, spinach, and broccoli.
